OUR FOOTBALL CLUB, PROUDLY SUPPORTING THE MAYPOLE PROJECT
Crystal Palace Ladles FC has always worked to be something other than just a means of football being played. We truly believe that football can transcend communities and culture and can be used a power for good, well beyond the obvious physical benefits of involvement in sport.
As a club we appreciate the role in society that we play. Our efforts to represent girls and women knows no bounds, and it is this enthusiasm for positivity, that we ask everyone associated with us, to harness and use to the maximum. As well as seeking to offer our players additional, social, career and life opportunities, we are all too aware of how we can help others. And this, is why we have adopted a charity partner.
Sadly, every one of us knows of someone who has probably been affected by a life limiting illness, in one way or another. Often, it may be friends of friends, or people we know, but with a club the size of ours, it is a sad fact that someone closer to us will be more, personally affected. As a club with hundreds of young women at our heart, we wanted to do something special, something that we can all relate to, something that we know will make a difference.
And that's why.......
We are very proud to be supporting The Maypole Project.
This amazing charity provides family-centred emotional support, where an individual has been diagnosed with a complex medical need between 0 and 18yrs.
Families can receive support from the moment of their child or young person’s diagnosis (or unnamed condition), including antenatal period.
The Maypole Project will support the whole family including siblings, the ill/disabled child/young person, parents, and grandparents and promise to stay alongside families for as long as is needed.
The Maypole Project support is tailored to each family’s individual need and we will support families at home, school, hospice or hospital.
The support provided by The Maypole Project encompasses :
- Adult Therapies
- Child therapies
- National Helpline
- Support to professionals: training and supervision
The Maypole Project provides activities and outings for children and young people with complex medical needs, SEN and disabilities.
Their activities are designed to…
- Bring children and young people together
- Create peer support
- Make friends
- And importantly allow parents/carers to take a well-deserved break.
Their activities and outings are for children and young people with complex medical needs, SEN or disability.
So please, do what you can to help this amazing charity and show that being a part of Crystal Palace Ladies FC is about more than just football.
