Great finish to a Great Season
The Blues battled to a 3-1 away victory at Meadow Sports to complete the 2014/15 league season undefeated. The title was confirmed last week in unsatisfactory circumstances when Staines failed to fulfil their fixture, giving the Blues a walkover, three points and the Division One title but the team wanted to go unbeaten through the season so the game never had an end of season feel to it.
Meadow Sports started brightly and the opening ten minutes saw wave after wave of attacks heading towards the Blues goal. The game changed however when Amy picked up the ball on the edge of the box and drilled a low shot into the corner of the net. Moments later it looked as though the Blues had conceded a penalty when a robust challenge from Hera sent the Meadow Sports forward flying but the referee only awarded a goal kick.
Martha doubled the lead with a composed finish from close range only to see Meadow Sports pull one back almost immediately from a well worked move. The next goal was always going to be crucial and it fell to the Blues when Caloe converted after a great through ball from Ellie.

The second half saw no further goals but it was a mystery to the watching crowd as to why. Sarah, Keeley, Ellie, Amy, Emma, Martha, Natalie, Caloe and Sophie all had chances to add to the lead but were denied by a combination of superb goal keeping and brave defending. When Meadow Sports did break they were kept at bay by Maisie, Hera, Amani and Syd who were determined not to let any more goals in. The final whistle sparked scenes of celebration from players and parents alike.
Meadow Sports provided the Blues with a guard of honour which was a classy gesture and then the players could celebrate in style worthy of their championship winning status.
After the match manager Joe Fazzino said "This was a fitting end to what has been an incredible season. To be champions and unbeaten all year in the league has been simply outstanding. This team have heart, determination, belief and spirit in absolute bucketloads which is why they have achieved this success. I can't wait to lead this team onto the stage at the awards night so that we can show the whole CPLFC set up how much they have deserved this. "
Congrats to all involved with the Blues.Having watched them quite a few times down at Hillside this season I know what a good side they are with a great set up.Enjoy your moment on the stage at Fairfield,I know Joe will lol.
