This was a convincing 8-0 win for the girls with strong performances all round. Morgan volunteered to play in goal and did a great job: safe hands, strong clearances and conviction to come out when needed to deal with a threat. The defence was solid. Jess played her first game and was very strong and committed at right back. Alana made some important clearances, including one where the opposition looked sure to score. Lorna and Sadie were composed and showed good control in playing the ball out from the back. Isla did a great job linking up the team in midfield.
Up front, our players really dominated, with all our attackers getting on the score sheet. Palace were 2-0 up after the first three minutes, Adenya scoring with a strong shot and Josie being alert to tap in for the second. Penny scored the third after a lovely, well controlled dribble past the last defender. Adenya scored the fourth, which was the pick of the goals - an unstoppable shot into the top corner after Josie had shown great control and played an excellent ball through to her.
In the second half, Palace started strongly again, with another two goals in the first three minutes. Amiga, who was a threat throughout the game with strong running down the left wing, scored direct from a corner and then Penny put away her second goal of the game. Adenya hammered home Palace’s advantage, following up to score after the keeper had made a good save from Josie’s strong shot and then getting her fourth five minutes from the end.
This was an excellent, all-round performance from the girls.
