He accepted her onto the team, before eventually realising that she qualified for the U12s, along with seven other girls had trialed for that younger age group that day.
CPLFC did not have a team at U12s, let alone a manager. The girl pleaded with her Dad to become the U12 manager as he had been involved with schools football for the previous five years. Dad did not stand a chance, (the things you do for your daughters), and he took the job as manager. He managed to bring in three other players and, as they say, the rest is history.
In their first season in the Kent U12 League, they finished as runners up, reached the Kent League Cup final, losing narrowly to the league champions 4-3, after twice being ahead in the game.
Five new players were signed from the CPLFC trial.
With the squad now strengthened, the team stormed to a Kent league & Cup double, and finished as runners up to Spurs in the London FA Cup Final.
This season CPLFC U14s have added one new player and have a 15 girl squad. The Club has moved to the Surrey County Womens League and at present (Jan 2011) have reached the League Cup final & the semi finals of the Surrey County Cup knocking out the two sides that had beaten them in the league. Although fifth in the division they have enough games in hand to climb up to second and the future is looking very bright for these talented young ladies."
