Crystal Palace Ladies Under 10s vs AFC Wimbledon

League fixture – Won 3-1

After four weeks of postponements, we finally ran out for our home fixture against AFC Wimbledon.

With the sun beating down and the temperature hitting at least 8 degrees, we set about attacking the visitors from the first whistle. We camped in their half for virtually the whole of the first period but after several wasted opportunities, including a shot against the post from Eden Skyers, there were no goals at half time.

The second half continued our dominance, but with shots missing the target with alarming regularity, it looked like we would struggle to get the victory we deserved. Our patience was rewarded half way through the second period, when Eden Skyers at last found some space to fire under the goalkeeper to give us the lead. What followed was perhaps our best football of the season. With confidence growing Kadelia Wilkins hit the post (the third time we had hit the woodwork), but this time the ball fell to Thalia McDougall who slotted home. The best move of the game with a great passing movement involving Eden, Joy Eden and Thalia provided the chance for Kadelia to fire home our third.

AFC Wimbledon pulled one back late on, but we were worthy winners against an improving side who put up a stubborn resistance and were a credit to their club as they have been in every game we have played against them this season.

Next up, the title deciding “double header” against the league’s only unbeaten team Carshalton Athletic. Cometh the hour, cometh the girls!!
