After a challenging 2012/2013 season, the u15’s are now looking to make a real impact. The girls have worked exceptionally hard during pre-season, and have made a promising start despite some difficult opposition. Forming an almost completely revised squad, the girls have coped extremely well with the new style of play and formation introduced by the new coaching team.
The focus throughout the coming months will be on team and player development, and there is much belief within the squad, coaching staff and parental entourage that the girls can continue building on their success in both their league and cup campaigns.
Certainly ones to watch!
Crystal Palace u15’s vs Guildford Saints (29/09/2025)
The Palace girls got off to a great start; building on the dynamic passing game they had worked on in training. The game was tight, and it was clear that the majority of goals would come from a break in play and the first goal proved exactly that. After some good pressure from the Guildford forwards, a strong clearance from the Palace centre half Millie Bridges put Alana Gardier in the opposition’s final third with some work to do. After some fantastic foot work and a skip away from the Guildford defence, Alana leathered home a sublime strike from just inside the box; 1-0 Palace. Although one up, Guildford looked the hungrier team, and the rushed passes and lack of movement meant that Palace were lucky not to concede earlier. In the first half however, luck was on their side and a beautiful volley from Reiana Francois put Palace 2 nil up. That lead was unfortunately short-lived, as Guildford pulled one back from a penalty after an unlucky handball in the area; 2-1. The whistle signalled half-time, and a very relieved Palace team.
As the second half got underway, the threat from Guildford was imminent. Aside from some constructive link-up play down the left hand side, Palace couldn’t seem to maintain possession or offer an outlet for an attack. Pressure from the opposition midfield led to the Palace defence dropping extremely deep in their own half, welcoming the equaliser; 2-2. A formidable Guildford defence did well to limit any attacks, and the keeper was relatively untested for the rest of the game. Lack of conviction and hard-work resulted in a third from Guildford; 2-3. Some notable focus and display of passion by some of the Palace team encouraged a few shots on goal that were safely parried by a now confident keeper. A well-timed break sewed the game up for Guildford just before the final whistle. Final score; Crystal Palace 2 Guildford Saints 4.
