Crystal Palace Ladies U11 Reds vs Mole Valley – Surrey

County FA Cup Semi-Final – Away tie – won 2-0

After what seemed like an eternity, we finally got this game on at the fourth attempt, albeit with a late change of venue.

After a scrappy first 15 minutes which saw the pattern of play go from end to end, we eventually started to take a grip of the game and to apply some pressure on the Mole Valley goal, despite playing uphill and against the wind. A few chances went begging, but Eleanor Hutchings finally found some space in the box to slot home nicely with a low shot into the far corner. Confidence was high now and further chances were created, and just before half time a powerful cross shot from Renai McCrea was palmed away by the Mole Valley keeper but Thalia McDougall was very sharp to prod the ball over the line from the rebound.

The second half continued our dominance with the girls really starting to play some flowing football but we were unable to add to our first half tally and only a great piece of defending from Dana Flynn when the lone defender against two attackers prevented Mole Valley getting back into the game.

All in all a very convincing performance despite a rusty start which was understandable after our long list of postponements recently.

We will now meet Sutton United in the final on 11th May at Chipstead FC. This is a repeat of last season’s final which we lost, so a revenge mission is on the cards.
