Sunday 25th August
Crystal Palace Ladies saw off a hard working Eastbourne Town side, after dominating most of the game. The Ladies made three changes and started the match in the same vein as the week before, playing fast attacking football but without the end product. Jenny Kikomeko did test the keeper with two long range efforts before Emma Whitter saw her effort come back off the post. Whitter then hit a great cross in the 37th minute and Jade Davenport nipped in to score to give Palace a 1-0 half time lead.
Eastbourne tried to take the game to Palace in the second half but the back four were too strong with Dionne Lennon and Grace Beggen particularly good.
However Eastbourne did find a way through in the 60th minute after a mix up on the right left the opposing forward to fire past Sam Sharp.
Palace pressed forward for the winner but both Tuffey and Whitter were foiled by the Town keeper, then in the 80th minute Lennon intercepted and played a superb through ball for Whitter who raced through to stroke the ball past the keeper for the winning goal.
Next Sunday the Ladies are at home to London Corinthians at Whyteleaf FC.
2-00pm kick off.
Sunday 18th August
Crystal Palace Ladies 9 - 0 AFC Wimbledon
A new look Crystal Palace Ladies started the new season in devastating fashion when they completely over ran a poor Wimbledon side. The Ladies gave debuts to six players and it was one of these, Emma Whitter who opened the scoring with a welcome early goal, American import Sarah Tuffey added two more, Whitter got her second and Nicki Waterman got one to make the half time score 5-0 as Palace tore their opponents apart with their fast, free flowing, football in an entertaining first half.
The second half continued as the first had finished with Wimbledon having no answer to the attacking flair of Palace, four more goals followed with Whitter and Tuffey completing hat tricks, and midfielder Jenny Kikomeko adding two more. The Wimbledon keeper did well to keep the score down with some fine saves but Palace walked off content with an opening day victory.
